Welcome to the Lothians Riding Club website

The club was formed in May 2002 by its current Chairman Duncan Owen. He initially started the club as a showjumping/equitation club but it has now moved into other areas and we now hold a variety of events including showjumping and dressage shows. We also hold a working hunter competition each year which includes a Blair Qualifier for the BHS Scotland Riding Club Working Hunter Final.

We are a relatively small club of around 50 members but pride ourselves on being very well organised, friendly with an emphasis on having fun.  Geographically we cover the Lothians, mainly Midlothian and East Lothian and surrounding areas.  We welcome new members and we cater for all standards of riding.  Newsletters are sent to members throughout the year and the website is updated regularly.  For our members we hold a points Championship Series for both Show Jumping and Dressage, with trophies being presented to the highest place member at our Annual Presentation / Social / Disco Night.  We also present stunning championship rosettes to 6th Place for both Show Jumping and Dressage.  In addition our Partnership Trophy is awarded to the member, whom the committee feel has had the best partnership with their horse that year.

Throughout the year we hold training nights for all members and we hold at least 5 Show Jumping Shows, most of which are held at Tower Farm or Dalkeith Park and at least 3 Dressage Shows which are held at Vogrie Equestrian Centre.

 As a club we enjoy taking part in British Riding Club Team Events and the club has been quite successful over the past 10 years.

Our Novice Show Jumping Team's have won both Indoor and Outdoor Qualifiers, which has Qualified them for Hartpury 2005, Lincoln 2007, Lincoln 2009, Lincoln 2011 and Hartpury 2012.   The Team came a very respectable 10th overall at Lincoln 2010 and 12th overall at Lincoln 2011.

Our Intermediate Show Jumping Teams have won Outdoor Qualifiers which has Qualified them for Lincoln 2009 and Lincoln 2010.  They acheived their best result to date at Lincoln 2010 where they were placed 8th overall and team member Deanne Roberts was placed 10th Individually.

Our Dressage Team earned their first success at the 2011 Qualifier, which Qualified the team for Lincoln 2011 and they have Qualified for Hartpury 2012.  The team came 18th overall at Lincoln 2011 and Dana Grant earned a 3rd place rosette in her ring for the Riding Test.  

Our Horse Trials Team won the Novice Horse Trials Qualifier in 2007 which qualified them for Offchurch 2007.
