The show jumping show on Sunday 18th March 2012 has been cancelled.

"It's that time of year again!! I am writing to you, on behalf of the Committee of the Central Scotland Horse Trials to ask if you would be available to help as a jump judge at the above event.

 Cross country will take place on both days, starting around 10.00am till 5.00pm approx.  This means we have time each morning for the Jump Judge Briefing to take place.

 There will, as usual be a team of relief judges going round all day, as well as visits from the refreshment team.

 I would be grateful if you could let me know as soon as possible if you would be able to help in any way. As usual we need many helpers, so if you know anyone who would be prepared to help, please let me know as they would be most welcome.

 Central Scotland Horse Trials is one of the largest events in Scotland , and without your help it just would not happen.

 I look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions please do not hesitate in contacting me.

LOTHIANS RIDING CLUB QUALIFY FOR THE 2012 BRITISH RIDING CLUB WINTER CHAMPIONSHIPS AT HARTPURY

FOR THE 2ND TIME LOTHIAN'S HAVE QUALIFIED BOTH A SHOW JUMPING TEAM AND A DRESSAGE TEAM FOR THE WINTER CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Massive congratulations to all the team members who competed in the the BRC Winter Championship Qualifiers.

The Show Jumping Qualifier took place on Sunday 30th October 2011 at SNEC (hosted by Lothians Riding Club). Lothians fielded 2 teams named Smurfs and Smurfettes.

The Smurfs - Julia Robinson-Dow on Midas, Jenny Scott on Miss Ellie, Jan Simpson on Frecketon Enchilada and Duncan Owen on RubyB were certainly on all form. Each member of the team jumped double clear and were the winners on the day, qualifying them for Hartpury in April.

The Smurfettes - Ahsleigh Blues on Indianna, Sheila Rodgers on Declan, Laura Hooker on Zeb and Gary McNaughton on Voss also put in a brilliant performance and were placed 6th overall on the day.

The Dressage Qualifier took place on Saturday 12th November 2011 at SNEC (hosted by Almond RC). Again Lothians were able to field 2 teams. Sticking with the Smurfs theme the teams were

The Smurfs - Jenny Scott on Miss Ellie, Ruth Winkle on Ekir Van De Kiezelweg, Debbie Millar on Silver Lining and Ashleigh Blues on Indianna. This time Jenny and Ruth did a prelim test, whereas Debbie and Ashleigh did a novice test. Obviously not wanting to be left out from the party at Hartpury !!!!!. all horses and riders put in a brilliant performance and came in 1st place from over 15 teams and qualified them for the championships.

The Smurfettes - Julia Robinson-Dow on Midas, Sarah Gray on Piper, Hannah Lombard on Finding Nico and Laura Hooker on Zeb also pulled out all the stops. They have a great day too and were placed 5th overall.

Again Congratulations to both teams and roll on Hartpury !!!!!.

Lothians Riding Club Win NAF Five Star Riding Club of the Month Award

Jenny Scott nominated Lothians Riding Club for the Riding Club of the Month and Lothians were duly awarded the Riding Club of the Month Award.

Lothians Riding Club - Annual Show 25th September 2011

Thank you to everyone who attended our annual show at Tower Farm, we had some fab jumping, with lots of fun and chat. Well done to all our winners especially Ivar & Lynsey who took on 1.40m fence in the Chase Me Charlie...well done. Also big thanks to everyone who helped remember this makes for very good show.

LINCOLN 2011 FUNDRAISER - DRAW

The Club and in particular the Dressage Team (Jenny, Debbie, Karen & Dana) and Show Jumping Team (Duncan, Ivar, Jan and Janis) would like to thank everyone who supported the club and purchased a raffle ticket, sold raffle tickets or offered prizes to support both teams.

We held the draw at the Stair Arms Hotel on Wednesday 31st and around 40 people attended. Ena Gaffney from The Drum RDA kindly agreed to do the draw for us. Lothians Riding Club members and supporters are very generous and we raised enough money to cover the entry fees, stabling and a contribution towards fuel costs, so once again THANK YOU.

NOVICE TEAM SHOW JUMPING - AREA 1 QUALIFIER & SENIOR FUN NOVICE TEAM SHOW JUMPING

Lothians Riding Club are hosting the Novice Indoor Team Show Jumping Area 1 Qualifier for Hartbury Championships in April 2012

We are also holding a Fun Team Show Jumping which is open all RC members and Non RC members but riders must be over 18.

We are holding this slightly earlier this year to avoid the dreaded snow as we had to cancel twice last year, we hope by having it at the end of October that lots of Riding Club teams will enter and make it a great day.

CLUB UPDATE

Sunday 25th September at 12pm is our Annual Show to be held at  Tower Farm.  Let’s hope the weather allows us to hold it.  So far this year all of our jumping shows have either been cancelled or abandoned half way through because of the dreadful weather.  The schedule will be available in the next few weeks and once again if you are not competing, then we always need helpers on the day to set up, steward and clear up.  So another date for your diary.  It’s also worth noting that Tower farm have replaced all of their old wing stands with lovely new ones and this will allow Duncan to build some different fences to add to the excitement!!

Friday 30th Sept – Sunday 2nd October – Riding Club Camp at Pratis Farm, Fife.  This weekend was booked after last year’s successful camp.  To get an idea if we are going to run it this year, we need to know if anyone is interested in going again??   Could you email Julia to register initial interest.  Once we have an idea of numbers and if it will be viable to run again, we will be in touch with more information.  But please let Julia know asap if interested.

Sunday 9th October – Dressage Show at Vogrie Equestrian.  Helpers and stewards required if you are not entering.  Schedule will follow. Luckily all of our dressage shows this year have been held on lovely sunny days and we have not had to cancel any of these shows

Sunday 30th October at SNEC is the next date for your diary.  We are hosting the Area 1 Indoor Novice Show Jumping Qualifier. (last year we hosted it but unfortunately it had to be cancelled twice!! Due to weather again) So this year we are holding it slightly earlier in an attempt to miss the worst of the weather.  Lothian’s will be entering Novice Teams and also will be looking for helpers and stewards on the day.  We will be in touch with more information regarding teams and help nearer the time...but meantime just make note of the date.

We need Stewards and Helpers for our up coming shows - Can you please look out your diary's and see if you have some spare time to assist at any of the events below..... If you can't do the full day, could you do half a day?

Lothians had a very successful day at the Show Jumping Qualifier on Sunday 19th June at Timpendean Equestrian, Jedburgh.

2 Novice Teams (Blue & Red), 1 Intermediate Team and 1 Individual Open were entered.

Congratulations to the Lothians Blue Novice Show Jumping Team (Duncan Owen on Ruby, Ivar McLeish on Hope, Jan Simpson on Freckleton Enchilada and Janice Mack on Zoe) who won the Novice Qualifier.

Once again this has qualified them for the National Championships at Lincoln on 17th/ 18th September 2011 and for the first time the novice dressage team will be going with them.

The Red Novice Team were 5th but only had 3 in their team, so this was a good achievement as they had no drop score and this does highlight the fact that you need 4 members in a team to give them the best possible chance.

The Novice Show Jumping individual places were mostly taken up by Lothians Riding Club members 1st - Jenny Scott - Miss Ellie, 2nd Janice Mack on Zoe, 3rd Duncan Owen on Ruby, 4th Jan Simpson on Freckleton Enchilada and 6th Ashleigh Blues on Indiana.

Lothians Style Show Jumping Team (Jenny Scott on Miss Ellie, Wendy Stewart on Unistar, Ruth Winkle on Ekir van de Kiezelweg and Julia Robinson-Dow on Midas) were very well placed with 2nd in the Style Jumping.

Congratulations also to Jenny Scott on Miss Ellie who had a very successful day, winning the both the Individual Novice show jumping and the Individual Style Jumping and this qualifiers her as an individual at the Championships at Lincoln.

The Intermediate team (Duncan Owen on Roslin Glen, Wendy Stewart on Unistar, Ruth Winkle on Ekir van de Kiezelweg and Janice Gladstone on Ludo) also performed exceptionally well but were pipped into 2nd place by EFRA. Duncan on Roslin Glen was 3rd overall as an Individual.

Finally Congratulations to Ivar McLeish on Quastor has qualified as an Individual in the Open Show Jumping..

Congratulations to the Novice Dressage Team who won the Novice Qualifier on Sunday 5th June at Rozelle Park, Ayr. The Qualifier was cancelled from the previous week but Ayr Riding Club very kindly agreed to hold the Dressage Novice Qualifier classes along side the Dressage Open Qualifier classes. It was a very busy day with 8 teams competing in the Novice Qualifier classes with strong competition.

The Novice Dressage Team has now qualified for the National Championships at Lincoln in September. The team of Jenny Scott on Miss Ellie, Debbie Millar on Silver Lining, Dana Grant on Drew Destiny and Karen Richardson on Coolkill Tornado along with all their supporters had a fantastic (although long) day.
